One of the more tentative issues when updating a System Center Configuration Manager site as I have written in the previous post is to ensure that each client is also upgraded. This has always been a manual process that takes extra time and care to make sure that the client software is up-to-date across the PC landscape.
The framework for this capability was actually put in place with the release of Service Pack 1 for System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager, but the feature still wasn’t quite complete.
Microsoft has just released Cumulative Update 1 for System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager Service Pack 1 and System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Service Pack 2, which finally brings makes this capability available.
After enabling automatic client upgrade on the site server and applying Cumulative Update 1, a new option will be available during the installation process, allowing administrators to choose automatic client updates.
